Finnish company buys first Vestas V126-3.0

11 November 2012

Vestas says that the first of its latest model of wind turbine to roll off the production line will be destined for Finland.

The Danish manufacturer has announced that it has received its first order for its 3 MW V126-3.0 wind turbine just six weeks after launching to market.

The order – for three units – has been placed by TuuliWatti Oy, which has bought many Vestas’ 3 MW WTGs in the past, says Vestas. Delivery of the three units is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2013.

According to TuuliWatti, the V126-3.0 MW turbine will improve the cost-effectiveness of wind energy projects. Vestas has increased the turbine’s rotor swept area by 27 per cent compared with the V112-3.0 MW and the new unit is specifically designed for low wind sites.
