A generating tower at the Ivanpah solar thermal array in California was shut down in May following a fire in unit 3 of the plant.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the blaze broke out at 9:30am on 19 May on the ninth floor of the Unit 3 tower at the 392 MW power plant in the Mojave desert.
It had been extinguished by the time fire fighters arrived, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
The fire was caused when electrical cables caught fire because of misaligned mirrors. A worker at the site was able to extinguish the fire and the tower - one of three at the plant - was taken off line for repairs.
Ivanpah was commissioned in 2013 and supplies energy to PG&E and Southern California Edison. It is the world's largest solar thermal power plant.
