First firing of Torrevaldaliga USC this summer

2 GW power plant near Rome is on target for the start of commercial operation in 2009.

First firing is scheduled to commence in early summer 2008 at the first of the three Ansaldo 660 MW coal fired ultrasupercritical boilers. On completion Torrevaldaliga-North will be the largest clean coal-power plant operating in Italy, and one of the most technologically advanced in Europe. The boilers will achieve steam temperatures of more than 600°C, owing to the application of best available technology combined with state-of-the-art materials .
