9 September 2005

Mexican President Vicente Fox is expected to veto the power sector reform bill recently approved by the Senate.

The measure, if passed, would cut electricity rates in order to benefit lower-income families and would cost the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) an estimated MXN10.8 billion ($812 million) in the first year alone.
