The FPL Group has undertaken to buy an 88.2 per cent interest in the Seabrook nuclear power plant in New Hampshire. Following an auction, the utility is to pay six utility vendors $837 million. This breaks down into $749 million for the plant and decommissioning trust fund, $62 for fuel, and the balance for components of a second, uncompleted unit. The deal is subject to regulatory approval. The 1161 MW PWR started operating in 1990.
