FPL issues a request for proposals for power beginning in 2009

25 August 2005

Florida Power & Light has issued a request for proposals to increase its power resources beginning in 2009.

The company plans to add capacity by either building its own plants or purchasing power from other companies. FPL’s self-build options call for adding four new generating units. The first two would be 1,100 MW gas-fired, combined-cycle plants in western Palm Beach County. Operational in 2009 and 2010, these units would be followed by two 850 MW advanced technology coal-fired units proposed for southwestern St. Lucie County in 2012 and 2013.

Parties interested in submitting proposals in response to this request may obtain further information and register to participate by visiting: www.FPL.com/2005rfp Proposals must be submitted by 9 November.
