France to develop next generation nuclear reactor

Saying the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is to start work on a prototype fourth-generation reactor immediately, Chirac announced the move in a recent speech in the USA.

France is expected to forge alliances with industrial or international partners and is one of 10 countries in the Generation IV International Forum.
