Gamesa seals first Enbridge order

24 December 2015

Gamesa is to supply wind turbines with a capacity of 103 MW to a new wind farm in the US state of West Virginia.

The Spanish firm said that the order marks a milestone in its US sales strategy as it is its first supply agreement with Enbridge, a major North American energy firm.

Gamesa will provide 45 of its G97-2.1 MW and four G90-2.0 MW wind turbines for the New Creek wind farm. It will handle the transport, installation and commissioning of all the units and will operate and maintain the wind farm for five years.

The turbines are slated for delivery over the course of 2016 and the project is expected to be up and running by the end of 2016.

Enbridge operates the world's longest crude oil and liquids transport system and has invested in the renewable energy since 2002. It is now one of the largest renewable energy companies in Canada with over 2500 MW of wind capacity and 150 MW of solar PV capacity.
