Iberdrola and Neoenergia have awarded Gamesa a contract to supply 42 wind turbines to three wind farms being developed in Brazil's Rio Grande do Norte state.
Gamesa will supply its 2 MW G114 wind turbines for the Santana 1, Santana 2 and Calango 6 wind farms. It will also be in charge of transport, installation and commissioning of all of the units.
Iberdrola and Neoenergia are part of the Força Eólica do Brasil consortium, which has already placed orders with Gamesa for 372 MW of capacity.
The turbines under the latest order will be installed in the third quarter of 2016 and will be grid-connected by the end of that year. Santana 1 and Calango 6 will be equipped with 15 units and Santana 2 will use the remaining 12.
The G114 wind turbine is a new model that is particularly suited to high-wind and low-turbulence conditions such as those encountered in Brazil. Gamesa says it has committed to supply around 800 MW of these machines worldwide.
