GE Energy aeroderivatives for Spanish paper mills

23 July 2007

The LM6000-PD gas turbine generator will generate approximately 47 MW and is based on 80 tonnes per hour of super-heated steam at 64 bar and 450oC. It is equipped with a dry low emissions combustion system for NOx abatement down to 50mg/Nms3. The waste heat recovery unit will be equipped with a supplementary firing system.

Approximately 20 MW of power generated will be used for feeding the paper mill, while the excess power will be sold to the national utility. The unit will operate in combined cycle, continuous duty at the paper mill plant where steam supply availability is critical. Pipeline quality natural gas is the primary fuel. Shipment is scheduled for August 2007 with an anticipated commercial operation date of February 2008.

In related news Cogeneracion UFIC has purchased an LM2500+PR aeroderivative gas turbine generator from GE Energy supported by a six-year contractual service agreement (CSA) for the Union Industrial Papelera (UIPSA) paper mill, located near Barcelona, Spain.

The LM2500+PR will operate in the paper mill. It is equipped with an evaporative cooler and a dry low emissions combustion system for NOx abatement down to 50 mg/Nm3 and will be fueled by natural gas. The six-year CSA is a full-coverage agreement with an availability guarantee.

The unit will provide 28 MW of electrical power at site conditions. The combined-cycle plant generates a total of 35 MW.

The equipment will be shipped in September 2007 and commercial operation is planned for February 2008.
