German army offers land for wind farms

27 July 2005

The Germany military has offered two of its training sites in Lower Saxony to wind developers.

The army opened bidding on the two sites in late July and bids will be accepted until 29 August for potential developers to lease the sites for 25 years.

The army plans to study other unused sites for suitability in a process that could involve more than 250 sites and an estimated 750 MW of capacity.
