GM and DoE sign $88 million fuel cell deal

General Motors and the US Department of Energy (DoE) have signed a five-year, $88-million agreement to build a 40-vehicle fuel cell fleet in Washington DC, New York, California and Michigan. GM will spend $44 million on rolling out a fuel cell demonstration fleet.

The DoE will match the GM budget under the deal that expires in September 2009.
