Independent power producer (IPP) Electrabel France has placed an order with Alstom for construction of a GT26-based combined cycle power plant in France.
The new plant will be constructed in Fos-sur-Mer near Marseilles in the south of France under a contract valued at EUR270 million. The project will be the first combined cycle power plant in France for Electrabel France, a subsidiary of Suez.
Under the terms of the contract Alstom will supply all engineering, procurement and construction services to deliver a single combined cycle unit consisting of one GT26 gas turbine, one ST15c steam turbine, one Topgas generator, a heat recovery steam generator and an Alspa distributed control system.
Suez is also building a GT26 combined cycle power plant in the Netherlands. The construction of a gas-fired combined cycle unit in France will diversify the company’s generation portfolio in the country, where it operates 4959 MW of capacity.
