The Guangdong Guangdian Grid Co is to expand the 500 kV network in the Chinese province of Guangdong. The project forms part of China's East to West Transmission Programme aimed at balancing energy production in the west with demand in the country's large population centres. As part of the project, the Austrian company VA Tech will supply two bays of 500 kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) and eight conventional 500 kV circuit breakers
