Heimifeng pumped storage plant moves ahead

The Heimifeng plant, the first pumped storage scheme in Hunan province, will be composed of four 300 MW reversible pump-turbine/motor-generator units.

Alstom is to supply, erect and commission one complete unit and provide components for the other three units, as well as technical support at the facility owned by Wuling Electric Power Co.

The first unit is scheduled for commercial operation at the end of 2008 and the last in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Besides Hemifeng, is also developing pumped storage plants in China including Guangzhou I (4 x 306 MW), Shahe (2 x 51 MW), Zhanghewan (4 x 255 MW) Bailianhe ( 4 x 306 MW), Huizou (8 x 306 MW) and Baoquan (4 x 306 MW).
