Hitachi, Sumitomo win Egyptian turbine order

A ¥5 billion (€37 million) order for a steam turbine system from Hitachi and Sumitomo Corp has been placed by the Upper Egypt Electricity Production Co.

Under the terms of the contract, Hitachi will build, install and test run a 250 MW steam turbine, power generator, and condenser at a new power plant some 95 km south of Cairo by June 2008.

The European Investment Bank will provide a loan for the construction of the power plant.
