Huadian to build power facilities in China

Huadian Power International is set to build two 1,200 MW thermal power plants in Ningxia and Shandong provinces following approvals from the State Development and Reform Commission (SDRC).

Ningxia Lingwu phase one will comprise two 600 MW units while Weifang phase two in Shandong, will comprise two 670 MW units. Huadian will own 70% of Lingwu but terms of Weifang ownership were not disclosed, although Huadian already owns 30% of the 660 MW Weifang phase one.

The total investment of 10.3 billion yuan ($1.25 billion) will be about 80% financed by bank loans with the remainder coming from internal resources.

Huadian had a total installed capacity of 7,416 MW and plans to spend 18 billion yuan ($2.2 billion) to add a further 5,660 MW over the next five years.
