23 October 2008

Huaneng Power International is to build a new coal fired power plant equipped with state-of-the-art technology at its Jinling power plant in Jiangsu Province, China.

China’s National Development and Reform Commission has approved construction of the 1000 MW power plant, which will use ultra-supercritical technology and will also be equipped with electrostatic precipitators, flue gas desulphurization and denitrification facilities.

Total investment in the project will be approximately RMB5.16 billion, according to Huaneng Power International, one of China’s largest listed power producers. The project is in line with the company’s ambitions to expand its operating base.

Some 20 per cent of the project cost will be funded through equity from Huaneng Power International, Jiangsu Guoxin Asset Management Group Company Limited and Nanjing Municipal Investment Company. The remaining investment will be funded by bank loans.
