The move anticipates an expected call for tenders from Hydro-Quebec for another 2 GW of new wind capacity by the end of October.
The Quebec government has already committed to a C$1.9 billion (€1.3 billion) wind power project in the Gaspe that would produce 1,000 MW by 2008.
