Hydro Tasmania places 168 MW wind order

7 December 2011

Australia’s Hydro Tasmania has selected Vestas wind turbines for the development of the Musselroe wind farm.

The Tasmanian utility has placed an order for 56 of Vestas’ V90-3.0 MW wind turbines, which will be installed in the first half of 2013. The 168 MW project will more than double Hydro Tasmania’s existing wind portfolio.

The order scope includes supply, installation and commissioning, and a ten-year service contract. The strong winds at the Musselroe site are ideally suited to the V90 machines, says Vestas.

Hydro Tasmania currently operates 140 MW of wind capacity – the 65 MW Bluff Point wind farm and the 75 MW Woolnorth wind farm.
