Italy orders GT26

Italy’s Energia SpA has placed an order with Alstom for the turnkey construction and maintenance services of an 800 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in southern Italy.

The contract, worth around €350 million and covers the engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the plant as well as long-term maintenance services for the gas turbines. The plant , based on two GT26 gas turbines, should come into commercial operation in 2008.

The project comprises a multishaft arrangement with heat recovery steam generators, steam turbine and electrical generators, jet condenser and a dry cooling tower.
