JinkoSolar is to supply 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to two projects in Chile's Atacama Desert region.
The China-based PV manufacturing firm says that increased demand for renewable energy products has made Chile one of the world's key markets for solar products. The order gives Jinko the largest market share in Chile.
The 60 MW Lalackama PV plant will consist of 197 000 PV modules, while the second project will generate 40 MW.
"We are very proud to have further solidified our position as one of the largest PV module suppliers in Chile," said Alberto Cuter, JinkoSolar's Sales Director of Emerging Markets. "The increase in demand for renewable energy has turned Chile into one of the principal solar markets, and by signing those contracts, we are continuing our strategy to diversify into emerging markets."
China-based Trina Solar recently announced it is to supply modules for an unspecified PV project in Chile.
