KRSKO DEAL SIGNED

5 February 2002

Slovenia and Croatia have signed a bilateral agreement covering the ownership and status of the Krsko nuclear power plant in Slovenia. Under the new deal half of the power from the plant will be supplied to Croatia from 1 July 2002. Supplies were halted nearly four years ago following a dispute over unpaid bills. An annex to the agreement settles joint ownership of the plant. Joint management and responsibility will cover all aspects including disposal of nuclear waste.
