A 155 MW run of river project in Chile by a 50/50 joint venture by SN Power of Norway and Pacific Hydro of Australia has been successfully registered with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board.

The La Higuera project on the Tinguiririca river, is therefore approved for the creation of carbon credits when it becomes operational in 2008. La Higuera is the first hydropower project in Chile and the largest such project in the world to be registered under the CDM.
