Largest UK windfarm commissioned

Rothes Windfarm, at Cairn Uish near Elgin in Scotland has been opened, the UK’s largest such development. The 22 turbine development cost around £40 million (€66 million) and has a capacity of 50.6 MW.

The application to construct the windfarm was made by Fred Olsen Renewables in September 2001 and consent was granted in January 2003. Olsen owns, operates and maintains the windfarm while Natural Power Ltd led the development.
