LIPA study shows $33 billion cost to bury power lines

A study by the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has determined it would cost more than $33 billion to bury all of its transmission lines. The study by LIPA says although the buried lines would save customers from some outages, it would mean raising electric rates 153%.
