UK households could save a collective £6 billion ($10.6 billion) on their energy bills by adopting simple energy-saving measures such as insulation and low energy lighting, says the Energy Saving Trust in a new study.
The news echoed a recent Ofgem analysis of the first three-year phase of its Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC) which obliges all energy suppliers to ensure that they help consumers to save a certain amount of energy. According to Ofgem, efficiency measures put in place over the past three years have saved households some £350 million ($620 million) a year.
About 10 million UK households have benefited under the scheme which has produced a 1% cut in carbon dioxide emissions from the domestic sector.
