Metso and BHEL to extend technology collaboration

22 January 2010

India’s Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) and Metso of Finland have decided to continue their co-operation in the field of distributed control systems (DCS) under an agreement originally penned in 2000.

The two companies have extended their technology collaboration agreement (TCA) for a further ten years. The move marks a milestone for the growth of the two companies’ automation businesses, says Metso.

BHEL is the largest supplier of power plant equipment in India, accounting for around 138 GW of the country’s 144 GW installed capacity. During the nine-year tenure of the original TCA, BHEL obtained orders for around 475 units.
