Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS), working jointly with Korean firm Daelim Industrial, has received a turnkey contract to build a 420 MW coal-fired plant, Pagbilao Unit 3, in the Philippines. The value of the order from Pagbilao Energy Corp was not disclosed.

MHPS will be responsible for the supply of the boilers, steam turbines and generators, as well as the control systems, flue gas desulfurization (deSOx) systems and other key components. Korea-based Daelim Industrial is to supply BOP equipment, including coal handling systems, and will be responsible for civil engineering and installation work.

Pagbilao Unit 3 is to be built adjacent to two existing coal-fired units at Pagbilao, Quezon province in the Philippines. The new power plant will be fuelled by sub bituminous coal, and is expected on-stream in November 2017.

The project is being developed by Pagbilao Energy Corp, an equally-owned joint venture between subsidiaries of TeaM Energy Corporation (a 50:50 joint-venture between Japan's Marubeni Corporation and Tokyo Electric Power Company) and Aboitiz Power Corporation.
