MicroCHP could hit half of UK

11 April 2006

The study concludes that, with the right policy framework, microCHP can realistically achieve 5.6 million domestic installations by 2020, a 50% market share with a generation capacity of 5.6 GW. This, says the study, is equivalent to 6.2 GW of winter peak generating capacity.

However, while the study demonstrates that microCHP, can and should play a significant role in the future energy policy of the UK it also warns that such potential will only be realised with clear support from the government. This support includes setting targets for the uptake of microgeneration and continuing to remove regulatory barriers.
