New power firm approved in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia plans to set up a new utility company to run water and electricity assets in the country.

The Shuaiba Water and Electricity Co will oversee the Shuaiba 3 project, a multi billion riyal scheme near Jeddah.

The cabinet has approved the establishment of the firm, which is expected to begin operating in 2007.
