Bechtel has signed an agreement to build an aluminium smelter in northern Oman for Sohar Aluminium, as part of a $2.2 billion deal that includes a power station and desalination plant.
Bechtel will provide engineering, procurement, construction, and project management for the smelter. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin before the end of 2005 with completion due in 2008.
