The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has issued a request for qualification (RfQ) for a new coal-fired power plant in Duqm.
The proposed 1200 MW plant will be the country’s first coal-fired independent power project (IPP). The RfQ asks potential developers to submit their statements of qualification for a new “clean coal” plant by 7 June 2018.
The plant is a key part of plans in Oman to diversify energy sources. The RfQ follows on from feasibility studies into the project and an environmental impact assessment study.
