The Philippines' 150 MW Burgos wind farm has started operations and is providing electricity to the country's national grid, according to Energy Development Corp (EDC).
In a stock exchange filing EDC said that its affiliate, EDC Burgos Wind Power Corp, had successfully commissioned the wind farm on November 5th.
The project is the largest wind farm in southeast Asia. It consists of 50 Vestas V90-3.0MW wind turbines.
Completion of Burgos has prompted the Philippines' Department of Energy (DOE) to nominate the project to the Energy Regulatory Commission as being eligible for feed-in tariffs (FIT).
The DOE will verify the commissioning of the project and will issue a certificate of endorsement for FIT eligibility to the regulator, says EDC, which has invested $450 million in the project and recently closed a $315 million financing deal with Denmark's export credit agency and a group of international and local banks.
