PLN appoints B&V for Lontar extension

Indonesian utility PLN has selected Black & Veatch to build the 315 MW Lontar Extension project.

Black & Veatch will deliver the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the coal-fired power project in conjuntion with its consortium partners, Sumitomo Corporation and PT Satyamitra Surya Perkasa.

"The consortium will safely construct a world-class power plant within the schedule and budget," said Mark McDermott, VP and Project Director, Black & Veatch.

Lontar is Black & Veatch's first EPC contract directly with PLN. The company will be the topline EPC provider and overall technical lead for the project. It will also provide equipment supply as well as construction management and commissioning.

Sumitomo is responsible for the boiler and steam turbine supply. PT SSP will be responsible for construction of the facility.
