In cooperation with Polish Energy Partners (PEP), the company is planning to build wind power plants at two selected locations in Tychowo, West Pomerania, and Suwalki, Masuria. The Tychowo project will comprise 16 wind generators of the two-megawatt class with 19 generators in Suwalki.
With a total investments of some €100 million, RWE Power will have a stake of 70 % and PEP a stake of 30 %. Commissioning is scheduled for 2009-10.
In related news, GE Energy has supplied 39 wind turbines for two new wind farms in northern Poland that will add a total of 58.5 MW.
Wind Farm Kisielice, near the city of Grudziadz, consists of 27 GE Energy 1.5 MW turbines while Wind Farm Malbork, near the city of Malbork, will use 12 of the machines.
The Kisielice project is currently in the commissioning phase, and 26 of the wind turbines have entered operation. The Malbork project is still under construction.
The power from the new projects will be purchased by Energa, a utility in northern Poland. Both projects are being developed by Iberdrola.
