Reliance Power to develop 200 MW wind power project in India

Reliance Power is to invest INR 1500 crore to develop a 200 MW wind farm at Vashpet in Maharashtra, making it the largest such investment in India by any power generation company at a single location.

The project will be developed by a special purpose company – R-Power – set up by Reliance Power and can be scaled up to 400MW. It is expected to be commissioned in phases and reach its full capacity by September 2012, the power to be sold through Reliance Infrastructure. R-Power has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with R-Infrastructure at the tariff declared by Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission which is INR 5.37 per unit.
