20 September 2005

Rolls-Royce has won an $82 million ($149 million) order from Technip for six RB211 industrial gas turbines to operate in the Akpo oil & gas field offshore Nigeria.

The order was made on behalf of Total Upstream Nigeria Limited and the company has now ordered 11 RB211 gas turbines for their operations in offshore Nigeria.

The six gas turbine gen-sets will provide 100 MW to develop 22 oil and gas production wells, 20 water injection wells and two gas injection wells in the field.

They will be housed on a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The turbines for the Akpo project will be installed in two modules and will be manufactured in Liverpool. Scheduled for delivery to the FPSO’s construction yard in Korea between June and August 2006, four of the six will feature exhaust-mounted waste heat recovery units.
