Russias 16,000 tonnes of spent nuclear fuel

According to comments attributed to Russian federal atomic energy agency Rosatom, the country has accumulated some 16,000 tonnes of spent nuclear fuel.

With the country’s nuclear stations generating around 750 tonnes of spent fuel per year, an estimated 24,000 tonnes will have accumulated by 2015 and will be stored at an estimated cost of up to $10 billion.
