RWE Innogy has put a 39 MW wind farm in Poland into operation, bringing its total installed onshore wind capacity in the country to 192 MW.

The German energy firm says that it now operates six onshore wind farms in Poland and has reiterated its commitment to the development of its wind energy business sector.

The 39 MW Nowy Staw wind farm consists of 19 REpower Systems turbines installed across a 15 km2 area close to the city of Gdansk. RWE invested more than €60 million in the project and has already started building a three-turbine expansion at the site.

Nowy Staw was completed in just ten months "thanks to excellent cooperation with local partners and authorities", said Dr. Hans Bünting, Managing Director of RWE Innogy.
