RWE npower buys Great Yarmouth Power

11 November 2005

The company will be purchased for a total consideration of £155 million ($255 million) and will be acquired free of long-term gas supply and power off-take agreements.

The plant was commissioned in 2002 and has a dedicated pipeline connecting the plant to the National Gas Transportation System just outside the Bacton gas terminal.

The purchase increases RWE npower’s CCGT portfolio from 2080 MW to 2500 MW.

The news comes as RWE announces that it is planning to sell its holding in Thames Water and American Water in order to concentrate on its core power industry business.
