Sanyo Electric to supply largest PV system to Italian plant

Sanyo Electric Co.is to supply what will be the world's largest photovoltaic power generation integral system to a solar power plant to be built in Italy.

The Japanese firm will supply an HIT solar cell, which consists of 32 202 photovoltaic cell panels and has a power output of 7.6 MW. Sanyo claims that it is the largest of its kind in the world.

A consortium led by Deutsche Bank AG will build the plant in south eastern Italy, and expects to complete construction in September.
