Scroby boosts UK wind

6 January 2005

E.On UK Renewables has commissioned the 30 turbine Scroby Sands development, the UK’s second largest offshore wind farm. The turbines, sited off the beach at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, generate a maximum 60 MW of a total of 124 MW in the UK and represents nearly a quarter of the wind capacity built in the UK in 2004. The UK is now the second-largest offshore wind generator in the world, after Denmark and about 600 MW of new on and offshore capacity is under construction right now, all of which should be completed this year, including 90 MW from the Kentish Flats project.
