Sener buys 100 per cent of Ill

12 May 2010

lSpanish engineering firm Sener has purchased Mexican firm Ill S.A. de C.V., closing a process that the two companies started in 2005.

The deal has resulted in the creation of a new company - Ill Grupo Sener - and will help to consolidate Sener's presence in the Mexican market, particularly in the power and process industries where Ill is mainly active.

The two companies signed a strategic alliance in early 2005, a move that gave Sener acces to the Mexican markets while also giving Ill greater capacity to execute turnkey contracts. Since 2005, the two companies have been jointly implementing projects such as the development of combined cycle power plants and projects in the refinery and gas industries.

Ill has also carried out projects in Guatemala, the USA, Thailand, Bolivia, Zambia and China. It employs 200 people and, like Sener, is specialized in the development of engineering services, procurement, construction, consulting and technical assistance.
