Sener wins Mexico contract

21 April 2013

Mexico's Pemex Refinación has awarded a contract for the construction of a cogeneration power plant to a consortium of Spanish firms Sener and Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL).

The 35 MW plant will supply power and steam to Pemex's Francisco I Madero oil refinery in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. Sener and OHL say that their bid for the project was selected because of their "extensive experience" in the industrial plant construction sector, including projects in Latin America.

The cogeneration plant will be equipped with a heavy-duty gas turbine and heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). It will generate 115 t/h of steam at a pressure of 19 kg/cm2 at 275°C that will be used in the refinery's production processes.

Other equipment to be supplied by Sener and OHL includes a natural gas measuring and control station, a system of air compressors, a continuous drain recovery system and water cooling system.
