Shoreham back on line

4 October 2006

The 400 MWe Shoreham combined cycle plant near Brighton, UK, was back on line on 23 September following an outage that started on 24 July, prompted by indications of a compressor problem in the Alstom GT26 gas turbine. The plant's owner Scottish Power decided to bring forward a routine outage planned for later in the year and combine repairs to the compressor - which is of the upgraded type recently introduced to the GT26/24 fleet - with routine maintenance activities. As of early October the root cause of the compressor problem was still under investigation.
