Siemens acquires companies

Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution has completed its acquisition of Shaw Power Technologies, commonly known as PTI, a network planning software and engineering company. The company’s PSS/E (Power System Simulator for Engineering) software is widely used by power networks in many regions. In other acquisition news, Siemens is also set to complete its takeover of engineering group VA Tech after the Austrian government approved the sale of its 14.7% stake in VA Tech to its larger rival. Siemens has offered 55 euro per VA Tech share, amounting to some euro 840 million.
