Siemens Energy has received an order from the Norwegian energy utilities Statoil and Statkraft to supply wind turbines for the 402 MW Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.The deal, which also includes a five-year service and maintenance agreement, is valued at around €650 million.
The supply contract covers the engineering, procurement assembly and offshore commissioning of 67 Siemens 6 MW direct-drive wind turbines for the Dudgeon project, which is being developed 32 km off the coast of Norfolk, UK. Each turbine consists of three tower sections, a nacelle and three separate 154 m rotor blades. Installation work is expected to being in 2017.
An additional service contract will cover operations and maintenance of the WTGs for the first two years after installation. This will be followed by a three- year period during which Siemens will provide Dudgeon with technicians and other agreed services, the developer said.
The first commercial Siemens SWT-6.0-154 offshore wind turbine was recently installed at Westermost Rough in the UK. The technology is also expected to be used at Gode Wind 1&2 in the German North Sea.
