Siemens has received an order to supply 21 wind turbines to NJR Clean Energy Ventures (NJRCEV), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NJR), for the 48 MW Alexander wind project, located in Rush, Kansas. A service and maintenance agreement was also signed. NJRCEV is responsible for constructing, owning and operating the wind farm, which is expected to be in operation by the autumn of 2015.
The wind farm is located 120 miles northwest of Wichita, and will deliver its energy via PPAs. The project's 21 SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines are part of Siemens G2 platform of onshore general purpose geared products optimised for all wind conditions. The nacelles for the project will be assembled at the Siemens facility nearby in Hutchinson, Kansas, and the blades will be manufactured at the company's blade facility in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Siemens recently hit the 10 GW installed capacity milestone in the Americas, with its 5600 installed wind turbines in Canada, the USA and South America.
