The development, on behalf of the Power Grid Corp of India is designed to strengthen the power supply to New Delhi without the need to build additional power plants.
Siemens has overall responsibility for the project, including design and will deliver the bulk of the core components such as converter valves, transformers, smoothing reactors, protection and control systems, and the AC and DC filters.
BHEL is supplying the converter transformers for the Bhiwadi converter station and components of the AC switchgear for both converter stations.
The order is worth around €235 million and is financed by the World Bank.
Siemens’ share amounts to about €170 million with final commissioning scheduled for November 2009.
